While I have experience with a number of Unices (and other OS's), I've settled on Fedora Linux as my preferred OS. For my desktop, I use Windowmaker, for my editor, VIM. I can program in a number of languages, but these days I tend to use C or Perl. If you're interested, here are some snapshots of some of my dotfiles, made 20 Aug 2005:
